Management
alex valle
I grew up among our family’s coffee plants and learned the skills from my father and grandparents. We were poor, very poor, and I had to help on our tiny plot of land before I felt ready for it.
Hidardo
Started Cafesmo with Carlos Roberto’s help and, above all, a lot of perseverance and determination. He works as Cafesmo’s director and leads the different teams. He’s an unstoppable coffee lover.
Admin
Cinthya Vanessa
Is the secretary of the board and is responsible for two core elements of Cafesmo: innovation and added value. She motivates her team members and also grows coffee on her finca, El Roblar.
Roy
Is the administrator. He’s responsible for all things related to finances, and also directs the operational part of the organization. He and his wife, Dariela, also produce excellent microlots which they both sell in a variety of countries.
Quality Control and Traceability
Yoreci
Is responsible for the quality control of our coffees. Not a single lot leaves Cafesmo without her okay. Each day, she sees more grains than an average coffee drinker in their entire lifetime. She’s known for her strictness when it comes to quality, and leads the quality control and traceability team.
Idalia
Is assistant manager for quality control as well, but her prime responsibility is to verify the quality of each lot with a thorough physical analysis. She also prepares samples for our buyers as well as for sensory analysis / cupping events. Idalia flourishes when she must work under pressure and nobody in Cafesmo drinks as much coffee as she does.
Meydin
Is assistant manager for our Fair Trade and Organic labels and creates a file for each producer, separately for each label. She makes sure that information is complete and can be shown at any time to either the auditors, or the producer.
Belkis
As soon as Belkis turned 18, she started working at Cafesmo, and she is now in charge of our roastery, where all farmer members can roast their coffees, under Belkis’ watching eye. She also helps our Q-grader Idalia in het everyday responsibilities, and learns a lot in the process. Belkis is quickly turning into a tasing pro. Currently, she has a soft spot for natural profiles, for its gentle acidity and strong flavors.
rosanni
Rosanni is responsible for certifications and traceability. It is a demanding job; there are 8,000 pages of documentation from the producers, and you need a keen eye for detail to comply with the many peculiaraties of each certification. Of course, Rosanni likes coffee. In fact, she grew up on her parents' farm. But she also loves cooking, and music (ballads accompany her when she works her way through all the paperwork). Rosanni also has a creative side: she likes to draw with charcoal, and paint, in her spare time.
Agricultural Support
Yoni
Yony almost became a semi-professional soccer player. Indeed, he was selected for a 1st division club and was ready to move to the town of his new club, when he decided that in the long run, he would be better off growing high-quality coffee at his farm and with his family.
Geremías
Geremías wasn’t educated to become a Cafesmo technical assistant. At least not formally, as he went to school to become a social worker! However, he was born and raised on a coffee farm and after spending a week at Cafesmo for a school project he was so enthusiastic that he also did his three-month internship with us.
Maynor
Joined Cafesmo in June 2021. However, he used to play on our premises when he was a six year old child, long before Cafesmo even existed. He lives across the street, and is now a much valued agronomy assistant. Maynor dreams of having his own farm one day, to grow the same great coffees that he now assists our farmer members with.
Juan Francisco
Chico is the most veteran and arguably most reliable member of the Cafesmo team. He started on the morning that Cafesmo received its very first batch of coffee – in 2017 - and we seriously wonder if he has ever taken a day of since that memorable moment. Chico is responsible for drying and storing every lot. Yes, he works as hard anyone.
Dilcia
Started working with Cafesmo on the day that we opened. She’s a busy bee who jumps in wherever she can help: drying coffees, verifying stocks, you name it. But above all, she loves to work in the nursery to take care of the smallest plants.
ICT
Jhony
Started working at the gas station across Cafesmo, but soon enough he was invited to join the team because he’s a computer technician and the organization constantly needs more ICT knowledge and assistance. Jhony was born in Mercedes, where Cafesmo is located, and he has always lived in the middle of coffee fincas.
Brayan
Studies web design and development. He joined the team in a part time capacity and is responsible for the website, photography, and some aspects of information management in the cloud. He’s also Sebastian’s assistant. Brayan loves cappuccino.
Relationship Management
Sebastián
Is responsible for international relations. He’s from the Netherlands, but he’s been working in Honduras for nearly twenty years. Before joining Cafesmo, Sebastian did not drink coffee! Now, he loves it, and every year he learns more.
Jairo
Joined the Cafesmo team in 2023 and is responsible for customer relations at the national level as well as publicity and marketing. Indeed, Cafesmo is also growing in Honduras! Jairo is the brother of Roy, one our most recognized producers, and Jairo himself is also a coffee lover. Although, nothing makes him feel more alive and creative than being in the kitchen. Preparing delicious dishes is a true delight for him, and Jairo loves to experiment with flavors and surprise his loved ones with his culinary creations. Who knows, one day you too can try one of his treats, with a cup of coffee prepared by his brother Roy?!
