Our future (and yours!)
We work enthusiastically to be part of a cleaner and fairer world. But we have many dreams as well, and continue to work for a stable and solid future. Over the next years, we will continue to expand our tree planting program, to accelerate our conversion to agroforestry and diversify our crops and income.
In early 2023, we have started to roast our own coffees, with the support of the World Bank, to increment our share of the value chain. Many of our members have their coffees roasted at Cafesmo to sell them at a higher value in local restaurants, gas stations or coffeeshops. And all our members participate in our national supermarket program (In December 2024, our coffees are being sold in 75+ locations nationwide!).
Cáscara, delicious for teas!
We also increase the production of organic fertilizer from the pulp of our cherries every year. On top of that, we generate some bioferments from the mucilage in the residual water. We also sell some of the ‘cáscara’ and are seeking more opportunities, but are aware that demand is currently still low.
Furthermore, in 2025, we’re looking into the feasibility of a solar energy project to provide part of the energy we need for our offices, cupping laband wet mill.
In 2016, Cafesmo was barely more than a dream. Now that this dream came true, we have even more dreams! But now, we also know that many decades ago, Eleanor Roosevelt was right: the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams!
Building our future, together
