Our community

Cafesmo’s slogan is ‘diversity and quality’. and that also goes for our people. We’re a diverse team, in which each of us contributes with their unique talents and knowhow, and each member is respected for who they are. However, together, we can do much more than each of us alone. Ah, and although we’re very serious about our work, we’re a happy bunch and not a day goes by without a good laugh!

With the ETEA foundation, we have worked to transfer our coffee cultivating knowhow to the next generation, and to empower women. Together, we’ve created a women’s as well as a youths’ group, because young and female coffee growers find themselves even more often in a vulnerable economic position. We’ve established relationships with roasters who specifically want to buy beans from women, or who wish to work with young producers.

We also maintain a strong relationship with our own community. Most of our employees grew up here, and most producers are from the surrounding villages as well. And if our community flourishes, we as an organization will also fare better. We work actively with local schools, civic society, and a rehabilitation center in our area. 

Beyond our local community, we nurture mutually beneficial and respectful relationships with our partners and buyers. Relationships in which we provide high quality coffee and keep our promises, and in which we are recognized as a serious and knowledgeable partner. 

Through the way we work, we intend to fulfill our social and environmental responsibilities in the value chain, and motivate our suppliers and buyers to do the same.
